What is Italian Slate?
Italian Slate is a softer material that offers some flexibility whereas Brazilian slate is much harder. The surface is smooth, with no discernible grain, similar to that of a leather writing desk. Slate is easily maintained and the black colour makes it perfect for this purpose. The natural, riven finish is flat with a ‘wood grain’ appearance running the length of the slab. Recommended where the hearth may see a lot of traffic as it does not show the scratches.
